    Plato Crater Floor Mapping

Type: Lunar Feature Location: Southern hemisphere network node Magnitude: — Date: 2022-09-14 Status: Confirmed Observer: D. Okoro

Plato’s unusually flat, dark crater floor makes it a common subject for amateur “lunar transient phenomena” reports — brief brightness or color changes that are almost always explained by lighting angle or observer expectation rather than anything geological.

This labeled reference map exists so that when a network observer reports something unusual on Plato’s floor, we have a documented baseline to compare against before treating it as anything more than normal lighting variation.
