    Perseid Radiant Density Count

Type: Meteor Event Location: Coastal observing node Magnitude: — Date: 2024-08-12 Status: Confirmed Observer: J. Park

Four network nodes ran a coordinated Perseid count on peak night, comparing manual tallies against each other to sanity-check individual observer counts — a single observer’s count can vary a lot based on cloud cover, moon phase, and simple attention fatigue over a multi-hour session.

This node counted 94 meteors across a 3-hour window, in line with the other three nodes after adjusting for differing cloud cover. Nothing here is a new finding, but the cross-referenced dataset is more useful to us than any single observer’s raw count would be.

    Clear skies help
